STORY SO FAR:
Last time, the Catoptromans welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Mary into the family. Giratina in the Distortion world was attacked by an unknown entity and forced into Mary’s world. Seeking an inconspicuous hiding place, he unfortunately chose little Mary as his host body. However, his entrance into Mary’s world didn’t go unnoticed. The secret government organization called DEADEN is about to discover what set off all their alarms. But with First Sergeant Loftman in-charge, only Arceus knows what he has planned.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“What’s taking so long?!” An impatient First Sergeant Loftman asked. “I thought you said we got pictures of this thing!”

“We have!” the scientist said. “These hyper definition pictures require quite some time to develop from space before we can even see anything. Mind you, these photos are being sent at the speed of light.”

“Well make it develop faster! We just lost its signal, and I’m not about to let this thing go unnoticed!”

He looked to his right at a soldier standing next to him with a military grade, status tablet. “Do we have agents near the sight of where the signal last showed up?”

“Yes sir. We have one agent who just so happens to be exactly where the last of the unidentified being’s signal was transmitted from. Agent Henry J. Catoptroman. He is currently at the hospital with his wife. He had reported in earlier today, said he’d be busy supporting her delivery.”

“Well that’s good and all for her, but last I checked, WE’VE GOT AN EMERGENCY ON OUR HANDS! I don’t care if she’s passing a kidney stone, get him to evacuate the place. NOW!”

“...Yes sir.” The soldier replied as he left the room.

“Sergeant Loftman! The pictures have finished developing!”

“That’s FIRST Sergeant Loftman, and it’s about time you lazy scientists did something worth contributing! Get them up on the big screen.” As the picture came into full view, First Sergeant Loftman could only stare.

All the chaos of people running and files flying had come to an abrupt stop. Everyone had paused to stare at the figure displayed on the main screen. Physically, it looked terrifying, but what radiated from the screen was a sense of dread. Dread, fear, and unease.

“Wha- What the?  What in the name of Hell am I looking at?! What is that thing?!”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry was sitting next to his wife, watching her chest rise and fall with each steady intake of breath. He had never felt so happy and content in his life. Now the proud father of a beautiful baby girl, he felt like his life was that much more complete.

“Guess this means my mom and dad are grandparents now” he chuckled to himself. “Not like they haven’t been calling themselves that already. It’s a shame they couldn’t make it. They were the ones most excited for the birth. Even more so than Celia was.”

His work phone suddenly vibrated in his pocket. Not wanting to wake his wife, he left  the magic-filled room to answer his phone. “I told the office I was going to be unavailable today!” He thought. “What could be so important that it couldn’t wait ‘till tomorrow?!” He opened his phone.

“I’m Busy.” Henry answered.

“Agent Catoptroman, this is Private Jonathan. We have picked up the signal of a Level four, Dimensional Rift twenty yards South of the hospital you’re in. From recent evidence, It seems that a highly dangerous, unidentified entity has passed through the rift and is currently hiding in this world. We were following it’s signal, but it seemed to have completely erased all traces of its existence around where you are now. To be blunt, It’s gone off the radar. We will be sending troops to the area within minutes. Sergeant Loftman wants you to evacuate the hospital immediately.”

“He must be insane if he expects me to just get up, and leave my wife all alone. Especially after she had gone through hours of labor to give birth to my daughter?! Neither my wife, nor my child are in any condition to evacuate the hospital dammit! Not to mention all the other patients here. I even heard a man was having a lung transplant today!”

“I’m sorry, but the situation is dire. Orders are orders, so do what you can with the time you have. Congratulations by the way. I'm sorry, Good luck and godspeed.”

Letting out a sigh, Henry begrudgingly submitted.  “Thanks... I’ll get right on it.” Hanging up, he looked back towards the room where his wife was resting. Gazing longingly at the door, he turned heel, and ran towards the main office.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Thanks for waiting Mary.” Said the Dr. Carter. He walked in with two other nurses behind him. “Now we can get your check up on the road.”

One nurse sat down and began typing various names and numbers into a document pulled up on a nearby computer monitor. The other gave the doctor a clip board to look at and walked over to where Mary had been left. The doctor had just begun to read some of the figures when the same nurse quickly interrupted him.

“Doctor!” She exclaimed, “This child has several dark spots on her back! I’ve never seen anything like it.”

“What, like Mongolian Spots? Does she have one big splotch, or several?”

“That’s the thing, they’re too perfectly aligned to be natural. And I’ve never seen a case of Mongolian Spot with such a dark color..”

“Here, let me look.”

The Doctor walked briskly to Mary’s side, only to find himself just as stumped as the nurse. Mary had rolled onto her back during the absence of the doctor, revealing the markings Giratina had unintentionally left on Mary upon his entrance into her body.

There, lined neatly in two rows of three, were six, small, black spots. Sort of what you’d see if you rolled a six on a normal piece of dice. The doctor reached down to feel the spots, only to notice that they were more like birthmarks than any kind of pimple or scab he knew of. What threw off the doctor and the nurse was the shapes of the spots.

Normally, Mongolian Spot was blue and resembled lumpy shaped birthmarks covering small, to large parts of the body. Much like a Spinda’s spots, no two cases or spot, of Mongolian Spot were exactly the same. Like a Spinda, Mary’s spots were perfectly circular. However, unlike a Spinda’s spots, they were in line symmetrically with their adjacent spots. Not knowing what to do, the doctor made his best assumption.

“Get her to an MRI scanner in the NICU immediately.”

“But doctor, that sounds a little extreme” said the nurse at the computer.

“That may be, but until we find out what this child has, I want to make sure she’s got a long life ahead of her. As a doctor, it’s my sworn duty to save the lives of everyone I can.”

“Yes doctor.” And like that, the nurse at the computer stood up and left. The other nurse moved to Mary’s cart and began to follow the Doctor to the NICU wing of the hospital.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At that moment, Mary’s father had just made it to the central doctors office of the hospital. Bursting through the doors, he flashed his badge in the faces of some very surprised looking nurses.

“This is an official government emergency” He monotonously stated. “Everyone inside the hospital is to evacuate immediately. Please do so in a calm, and orderly fashion.”

“What’s all this about?” A old looking doctor, most likely in his late sixties, slowly turned around in his chair and gave Henry an astonished look
Henry addressed the doctor formally, taking notice of his nametag.

“Excuse me Dr. uh.. Gerald, but I’m overriding any form of authority here based on a government emergency. All personnel within this building are to be evacuated immediately.”

The doctor just stood there and stared, flabbergasted.

“Please sir, this is a code GAD 22” Insisted Henry.

At that, realization flashed in the doctor’s eyes and he nodded slowly. Turning around, he reached for a microphone, took a deep breath, let out a sigh, and turned on the PDA.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at DEADEN’s headquarters, First Sergeant Loftman was about to pop a blood vessel. Never, had he ever thought something could actually happen while he was assigned here. He worked too damn hard to climb his way up in the ranks to pick this cushioned little job. All he had to do was stand in a room full of nerds who sat at computers all day long and “keep an eye on them.”

Sure, once in a while he had to report back anything worth mentioning, and he had to “report” a person or two in order to prove why his being there was good for the military, but this wasn’t in the job description. He was supposed to have a cushioned job, ordering around a bunch of nerds, and getting paid to do it.

Now, everyone was running from one screen to the next, like they were damn chickens with their heads cut off, and HE was supposed to be in charge of these chickens. But what could he possibly do? He was just as headless as they were. Just as clueless. Kernel Sanders would have more control here!

Maybe he should make a plan to pin all this trouble on someone lower than him on the ranking chain. It wouldn’t be hard. He’d done it before and gotten away with it. However, his thoughts were interrupted when Private Jonathan came bursting in.
“Sergeant Loftman!” he exclaimed.

“That’s FIRST SERGEANT to you!” he shouted.

“Yes sir, First Sergeant sir. agent Catoptroman has reported back. He says the hospital is evacuating as we speak.”

Finally, something he could work with. “Excellent” said Loftman. “Tell him to remain on standby and await further instructions. Meanwhile, I’ll call the higher-ups for a military team. I think I’ll even go there myself. (anything to get away from this ner chaos).” He added silently.

“Yes SIR!” replied Jonathan. Quickly, he turned tail, and fled out of the room with Sergeant Loftman close on his heel.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back at the hospital, Mary was halfway to the NICU wing of the hospital when the nurse wheeling the cart heard the PDA chime on and stopped on her tracks.

“Attention, all doctors and nurses are to assist with an immediate evacuation of all patients and staff in a calm and orderly fashion. I repeat, all doctors and nurses are to assist with an immediate evacuation of all patients and staff in a calm and orderly fashion.. This is not a drill. This is not a drill.
Attention, all doctors and nurses are to assist-”

And it continued to repeat the same message over and over again. Not knowing what to do, the nurse rationally, and quickly wheeled mary towards the maternity ward in order for her to be properly evacuated with the other newborns.

For the next hour, doctors rushed patients in critical condition to the nearest hospitals, via ambulance or Helicopter. Those well enough to walk helped in any way they could. Some patients even pushed beds and wheelchairs with people in them, while others could only hasten themselves out to the parking lot. There, a large group of patients and nurses were beginning to grow.

While the last of the patients were being wheeled out, Mary’s mom included, military helicopters and jeeps filled with masked soldiers began pouring out from everywhere. First Seargeant Loftman had taken complete control of the situation and relished in the fact he had absolute power. However, he wouldn’t step one foot into the hospital. He made the excuse that being outside to direct people and give orders was where he needed to be. It was just an excuse to cover his fear of what he saw on the monitor.

A hazmat truck pulled up to the emergency wing of the hospital and men in hazmat suits walked in. For a while there was nothing, but eventually, the hazmat men returned and said that they detected absolutely nothing. Harmful or otherwise.  For three days, the hospital was deemed safe for soldiers only to enter. The hospital was thoroughly inspected from top to bottom, but nothing was found. Every patient, doctor, and nurse were also examined and questioned, only for the same result to be drawn up.

Nothing.

Nothing was found. Whatever was detected by the DEADEN department, it disappeared without so much as a trace. Well, no traces they could have detected normally. Mary’s secret passenger was in too dormant of a state to be detected by any means human, or otherwise.

However, during the examination of the hospital, Mary’s mother, and other concerned parents demanded that their children were returned to them. Other patients who were deemed well enough to leave, but unable to because of the military surveillance were also causing a ruckus. Not wanting to concern himself with anything that wouldn’t help push his career forward, First Sergeant Loftman ordered the doctors and surveillance operatives to allow the patients and newborns to leave. If only to relieve himself of a headache.

Mary’s mother and father were relieved to see their little bundle of joy returned to them, but their relief turned to worry when they saw her spots. Concerned they asked the nurse who had handed them Mary. This nurse was newer than most and knew only a handful of children’s diseases. She told them not to worry, that it was only a case of Mongolian Spot. A common and un-harmful feature that many babies had. She told them that it would eventually go away with time. She was pleased when she say Mary’s parent’s faces relax and soften. They thanked the nurse and let her walk away. Mary certainly had a very interesting first day of her life. Needless, to say, this was only the beginning of her life’s adventure.
DISCLAIMER: Please reread chapter 1 before reading this chapter. I've made some major edits that I think would help further the understanding of chapter two. These were necessary editions that I had to make. You can read about it in the description of Chapter 1. If you already have then please go right ahead and enjoy.

What I enjoyed most about this chapter was looking up a disguised disease that would explain away Baby Mary's "Spots."
I did some research and it turns out there is a disease very similar to her situation. It's not really a disease, It's more of a "Temporary Condition."
It's called Mongolian spots. Named after the very people that were thought to be the first to acquire this "Condition." :sparta:
Its a condition where an infant has these blue spots that appear on various places of the body. Mostly on the torso and legs. sometimes the arms, and rarely on the head/neck/face.
Some infants only get one spot, others have many spots all over their body, ranging in different shapes and sizes. No two cases are ever the same. The same goes for the spots. No two spots on one body are the same. It's not harmful in any way at all. It's just a temporary condition. I say temporary, because the spots disappear over time.
Before I wrote this story, I had never even heard of this condition.  It just goes to show you, you learn something new every day.
